Increased use of cord blood to treat CGD and other immune disorders

A recent report in the journal Bone Marrow Transplantation has reported a rise in the use of the cord blood for haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Cord blood is just one of the sources of stem cells for treating conditions such as CGD.  It offers an alternative to bone marrow and peripheral blood containing mobilised blood stem cells and has been used successfully by groups within the UK to treat CGD and other immune disorders.
