Administrator, CGD RT Office
Averil Cubitt
After 25 years in the UK Civil Service, Averil Cubitt had imagined leading a quiet life in rural Dorset, walking the dog and reading books. Not for long. The village hall needed a new secretary, the church needed a treasurer for the magazine, a vacancy arose on the parish council and the CGD office needed her too for seven hours a week. She says: "I am enthusiastic about the Trust’s aims. Although we are a smaller charity, we have an immense amount to do. I am proud to be part of that."
Averil has five grandchildren and enjoys painting watercolours, sewing, decorative embroidery and beadwork on top of all her activities for her village. "Luckily my husband is supportive, and we do a lot together. It is nice sometimes to escape in our caravan and head for the coast".
